An Arizona Art Alliance Juried Exhibition

As temperatures rise across Arizona, we’re turning up the cool with your hottest artwork! The Heat Is On 2025 is an open-themed, virtual exhibition showcasing original works by members of the Arizona Art Alliance Member Arts Organizations. Whether you’re working from the desert or the coast, you can participate from anywhere.

Eligibility

Open to all members of Arizona Art Alliance Member Arts Organizations.
Not sure if you qualify? Check our member list. -
Original 2D, 3D artwork and jewelry are welcome.

NFS (Not For Sale) works may be submitted.

All work must be original — no giclée reproductions. (Photography and digitally-created works are accepted as originals.)

Previously exhibited work in any AzAA exhibition will not be accepted.

Collaborative works are allowed. Please credit all artists involved.

The Arizona Art Alliance reserves the right to decline submissions deemed inappropriate.
Entry Fee

$30 for up to 3 artworks (non-refundable)
All entries must be submitted through the Arizona Art Alliance website.
Awards

1st Place: $250 + Ribbon

2nd Place: $150 + Ribbon

3rd Place: $100 + Ribbon

Honorable Mentions: Ribbon Only
Award recipients may retrieve ribbons, certificates, and checks in person at the Alliance office.
Submission Requirements
Prepare the following before submitting online:

A short bio (about you and your art journey)

A brief artist statement (about the work you’re submitting)

Image files:
– Max file size: 5MB
– Longest side no more than 6 inches
– File naming:LastName 1

– Make sure your entry number matches your image number
– No substitutes or edits accepted after submission
– 2D images must be cropped (no frame or background)
– 3D and jewelry may have a simple background
Sales
Sales will be handled directly between artist and buyer. The Arizona Art Alliance does not take a commission or act as a third party in any transactions. Artists are encouraged to exercise caution when arranging online payments.
Image Use & Copyright
Artists retain full copyright of their work. By entering, artists grant permission for the Arizona Art Alliance to use submitted images for promotional purposes related to this and future exhibitions.

Meet the Jurors
Heidi Dauphin
Heidi Dauphin is a mixed media/ceramic artist, born in 1970 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned an MFA in 2001 and BFA in 1992 from the University of Michigan. Heidi’s career began as a high school art teacher in Michigan and followed by working as a gallerist in Massachusetts. Moving to Phoenix in 2004, Heidi focused on art making and has completed several large-scale Public Art Projects, including the Valley Metro Light Rail, City of Phoenix, and the City of Avondale. She is also the Exhibitions Manager at Shemer Art Center.
Between public art projects, Heidi concentrates on her studio practice. She is a collector of memories, objects, and places: all affecting her work. Throughout her career, she has completed three yearlong art projects (2000, 2010, 2020) that involved making art and collecting every day for a year. Heidi feels this ritual is essential to her art making process.
Meg Gizzi
Meg Gizzi is a ceramicist and educator born and raised in Michigan. Meg received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Design with a concentration in ceramics from the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design. She then completed the Post-Baccalaureate Ceramics program at Michigan State University.
Teaching experiences include: East Lansing Hannah Community Center., All Seasons Senior Living Facility, Yourist Studio Gallery, and a lecturer teaching Introduction to Ceramics at Eastern Michigan University and Beginning and Advanced Ceramics at the University of Michigan Residential College.
In addition to her career as an educator, Meg is a working artist, striving to produce ceramic objects with meaning and purpose. Her work has been featured in shows at the University of Michigan Stamps Gallery, Residential College Gallery, and Stamps Senior Show, the national juried show untitled 2.0 at the Athens Arts Gallery in Athens, Indiana, and the 100th Annual All-Media Exhibition at the Ann Arbor Art Center. Her first solo show, Ways of Being, at BARICKUDA GALLERY at trustArt Studios in Ann Arbor, MI.
