A seasoned artist , with many shows and two galleries of my own, under my belt. I was very active, the director of the city Artwalk, and participated in town sponsored art events in Prescott Az for the last 25 years. Moved to the valley in 2020, became inspired by the cacti, but in my usual style , incorporated, figurative elements in my work . Definitely a people person. Currently have work at Mesa Center for the Arts Artstore. My goal is to branch out in 2024 , and to that end I am applying to this show.
my business name is the best descriptor of my work Random Art… always exploring new mediums and techniques answers my restless nature. I persist. Couldn’t stop this endeavor if I wanted to!

First watercolor, then came oil, then the desire for more texture , sculpting plays a part, but still the oil is the medium I use most. I call my inspiration popcorn brain. Ideas just coming in the night, on a drive , in the middle of a conversation that has no connection to the vision, wordplay , nature is the main inspiration weather that is human nature or flora and fauna. I had a gallery in Prescott for many years, recently moved to the valley and have my work at Mesa Center for the Arts. Actively seeking grater representation in the Phoenix area.
I find it hard to decide what to call a statement v.s. biographical info. Anyway , I create Random Art as my business name would suggest. Random Art.biz is the website. I would call my style mildly surrealistic.

Augie Tantalo
Augie Tantalo Graduated from Arizona State University in 1982, BAE Degree in Art Education and Masters Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. I taught Art Education for 28 years within the Gilbert Public Schools and at Mesa Arts Center.
I was born and raised in the small town of Bradford, Pennsylvania. Growing up in the Allegheny Mountains helped me to develop a deep appreciation and respect for nature. Nature has always been a primary source of inspiration for me and continues to have a strong impact on the choice of subject matter that I use in my paintings today. Although I have experimented with various painting media, my preferred medium is oil. I consider myself to be a realistic painter but have grown to view the world in a slightly different manner. I have come to realize that nature provides an endless supply of images, such as the natural textures of rocks, leaves, and tree bark. The reflections on the transparent surface of water helped me develop an appreciation of abstract art. Today my subject matter has evolved into a style that focuses on the elements of a scene such as color, line, shape, value, and texture and these things have helped me to continue to grow as an artist. I truly believe that all people can gain a better understanding and appreciation of the world around them through the arts.

Dawn Zintel
The landscape of the Central Highlands surrounding Prescott, Arizona is a feast for the eyes throughout the year with each season adding its own distinct variation. Cougar, coyotes, deer and javelinas roam throughout our neighborhood while hawks and golden eagles soar overhead. Inspiration springs forth and manifests itself in my studio where I create fanciful and impressionistic interpretations of my everyday life and surroundings.
During her business career, her creative outlet included making hand-built pottery and stained-glass art. Then, in the early 90’s, she began to paint using watercolors. Dawn has studied with several award-winning Canadian and US artists and eventually settled on painting using oils, acrylics and alcohol inks. She has had the good fortune to win awards with the Federation of Canadian Artists and in several competitive shows in Arizona since she moved to Prescott, AZ in 2017.

Debra Goley
It’s the journey I am after, the in and out, the up and down along the road that brings joy. I wanted to explore what it means to leave the playing field, jump back in, follow paths that are defined and those that are obscure. I enjoy playfulness, freedom of motion, exhilaration, and a dip or two. I pull from my experiences on the road, love of travel, exploration, love of board games, things that come around and go around and lead us to the extraordinary. The end result is just that. An extraordinary journey is not to be sat out. It has its ups and downs, ins, and outs. Let’s go!
Art is Debra’s language, and it speaks of how she is innately wired. As an award-winning international and inspirational artist, beginning with a career as an architect, she is now a full-time artist and art instructor for a public school and teaches privately for all ages and exceptional needs. Her latest love is working with fiber. It is an exciting extension of her portfolio adding depth to her work after her mom left her with a plethora of fabric and a machine to draw with her needle. Debra begins her designs by sketching to scale and allowing the form to follow function. Her life’s work is a continued exploration which has its roots in a life lived overseas and the experience of a multicultural community. As a multimedia artist, Debra’s work and teaching style clearly represent a global influence. With each new project her journey begins with research and analysis of a subject which takes her design from concept to expression. Debra resides in the west valley of Phoenix with her husband and little dog Astro.

As an inspirational artist, I find clues from living in many parts of the world. Looking at the map from space you see tiny dots in the ocean, islands of steel that coagulate near coastal regions and odd parts of the world. A look closer reveals a standing steel platform where a light does glow and shows that water and oil can mix. Natural resources are abundant and there is much to be thankful for as friends and family find work. The sight of the rig suggests blood, sweat and tears for a person who works extraordinarily while I view from afar.

I combine natural and symbolic principles of Impressionism and Expressionism. I mix warm and cool values of primary colors to make custom colors, and brush thin layers of oil paint onto the canvas, adding lighter hues on top of darker ones which enriches the painting’s luminosity, and gives it a stronger sense of depth. I’m drawn to a paler version of the color spectrum, so my palette is softer and has a dreamy vibe.
I’m Diane Andreoni, a wandering spirit. I love travel. Being outside. Connecting with nature. Always observing and taking in colors, shapes, textures. I never know what will spark an idea I’m passionate about. My painting style has never ceased to develop since attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My curiosity to learn new things is constantly tugging at me. I hope you’ll follow along with me as my work continues to evolve.

John Peelle
John has been an image maker all his adult life. His colorful and impressionistic style has been developed over the last thirty years. The paintings are his impressions, his feelings and understanding of light, color, texture, motion and style. What moves John to paint may be as simple as the way the light strikes a scene at hand or the complexities of shapes built into cities, both large and small. “A painting is nothing more that what the artist deems important and what details, color and shapes are needed to convey the feelings imparted by the subject.”
I took up painting to make sure I had an adequate amount of stress in my life after retirement from my Commercial Photography studio, a life long career. So far it has worked out beyond my wildest dreams. I have thought about the process and can find a fair amount of similarities between the two art forms, what I seem to lack is the reason I do it in the first place. I have taken plenty of classes and met dozens of artist who work in many different mediums, I often think I should light candle for them.

I have been actively painting for more than 25 years. My painting skills have developed through participation in art classes, workshops, and mentorships. Art is a never-ending research project for me. Much of my work comes from the ability to take what I have learned to develop my own style. My primary mediums are pastels and oils. I try to challenge myself with each new painting by incorporating new techniques into my unique style. I use color and a strong sense of design whether I am creating a figurative piece, a colorful floral or a vibrant wildlife painting. “I can’t imagine doing a painting without an animal, bird, or people in it. It has been a constant theme in my art, and it is foremost in my mind.” My work is best seen in person, as a photo presents only a midpoint in the dichotomy between realism and expressionism. I believe that “interesting is better than exact,” and strive to engage the viewer with expressive strokes, fostering an experience with the piece, rather than reporting exactly what is seen.

First and foremost, my paintings are attempts to communicate the vision of one human being to another…an act of communication not that unlike the paintings the earliest humans made on the walls of their caves. My paintings contain a narrative quality that that make them accessible. The dynamic relationships among thought and emotion, history and culture, morality, and art is a cauldron for making art. For me, working to make visible these relationships has always been a source of motivation and provided the essential themes of my work.
I am an artist who, for nearly fifty years, lived and worked as a public school teacher, administrator and college professor: my experience in education informs my painting. I embrace the dynamic relationship among thought, emotion, history, culture, morality and art. I believe that this dynamic is as important as that of color, volume and line. And I always believed that if education is to be a force for good, art must be present.

In high school I won the gold key award and had my work displayed in the Phoenix Art Museum. I’ve worked in many mediums but love drawing the most. After many years, I have re-entered the art world and am currently in the GAC juried show where I won first place in drawing. My work is considered a little quirky and hopefully interesting and fun.

A blank canvas beckons as an irresistible playground for my creative journey. Based on visual, emotional, and sensory perceptions of life’s adventurous, and mundane experiences; I begin with a mark followed by intuitive and thoughtful responses to the previous mark(s). I stop when I feel the composition of rhythm, space, color… harmonize, and express the energy of the moment. Each completed work offers viewers the opportunity to interpret on many levels.
Martha’s diverse background includes: Chinese Brush Painting and Sumi-e, Design/Architecture/Landscape Architecture, licensing her art, illustration for Fine Cooking Magazine. Currently living/working in Cave Creek, AZ, she creates non-representational acrylic paintings using her varied past and current life experiences as inspiration. Selected Exhibitions: “Interpretations VIII” Wham Gallery Surprise, AZ Scottsdale Civic Gallery “Colorlove” China Academy of Fine Art Gallery, Hangzhou, China Ansel Adams Gallery, Yosemite National Park Sumi-e Society of America National Awards Exhibition, Washington, DC

My work reflects my life, most of my art is based on reference photos taken by myself wherever I may be. I am partial to flowers, but also paint the people, places and things that I encounter on my travels. I change my working method and medium to suit the subject matter. My painting journey began with watercolor and I still work in this medium, as I enjoy the interaction of pigment and water, but I also create collages with acrylic gelliplate monoprints. I love the vibrancy of the colors and patterns I can obtain this way.
Originally from England, Melanie Harman has lived in Arizona since 1987. She works in watercolor and acrylic on paper and her work can be found in collections in the USA, United Kingdom, and Australia. She is a juried artist with Arizona Artists Guild and Arizona Art Alliance, and is a signature member of Arizona Watercolor Association, Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona, and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. She was voted Artist of the Year for the 2022-23 season at Arizona Artists Guild. She is currently Membership Chair for Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona and is VP Exhibitions for Arizona Artists Guild. Melanie likes to hike and travel.

Melanie Mead
Melanie Mead is a ceramic artist located in Phoenix, Arizona. She came from a creative family in the Midwest, graduating from Arizona State University with a BFA in Graphic Design. Her love of ceramics was cultivated there. She has dabbled in many different media, but after a pause of many years, ceramics has resurfaced with a passion. Her current work specializes in sculpting flowers and other plant life for indoor and outdoor environments.
As an artist based in Phoenix, AZ, I find inspiration in the vibrant desert landscape and other plant life from my time spent in the Midwest. My medium of choice, ceramics, allows me to explore the delicate beauty of nature. With each piece I create, I aim to capture the essence of life through the colorful and intricate world of flowers. My work is a celebration of the fleeting beauty of these delicate blossoms, forever preserved in the timeless medium of ceramics. Flowing lines and intricate details intertwine to create pieces that are not just art, but a reflection of the vivacity of life itself.

Mikayla Jade Hammock
I am an illustrator that draws animals in a style inspired by the combination of surrealism and scientific illustration. My drawings are created using pen and ink with the pointillism technique. My style of art is drawings within a drawing. I illustrate scenes that take the shape of a larger subject. The scenes within the drawings tell the viewer about the subject as they form its shape. I most often draw animals formed by smaller illustrations of their habitats. These smaller illustrations include information such as what the animal eats, what biome it’s from, what plants grow in the same area, and what it looks like at different stages of life. These drawings are combined to form the shape of a larger subject. This illusion encourages viewers to look at the piece longer as they notice more and more smaller illustrations within it.
Artist, Mikayla Hammock, is an Alabamian illustrator, currently based in Surprise, Arizona. She creates illustrations using pen and ink with the pointillism technique. Her style is inspired by the combination of scientific illustration and surrealism. She studied art, marketing, and sales at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While in college, she began her art career showing her work in arts festivals, galleries, markets, and pop ups. Her drawings are created using pen and ink, as well as watercolor. In her work, she depicts animals, formed by smaller illustrations of their habitats. She also creates faux insect taxidermy with pen and watercolor illustrations. Her work seeks to capture the intricacies and whimsy of nature.

I love color. With all the unlimited combinations and possibliities, I never get tired of experimenting.
Pat Beans spent the first part of her life raising four children and working to build a business with her husband. When she was able to retire, she took off in the art world, taking classes, workshops, going on painting trip workshops. Her world exploded with color. Now at age 94, she may be a little slower and unable to do many of the things she would like to be doing but she is still enjoying the art world. With her faith and sense of humor, you never know what she will be painting next.

The itch to create out of clay started in my high school art class – when I was first introduced to the potters’ wheel. That was about 50 years ago; and after a 30 year career in printing and 15 years in the A/C business, I am finally realizing a dream. Over the years I’ve done a lot of looking at pots and buying of pots – and now it’s my time at “hands on” – getting to assuage that itch that never left me!
The majority of my work is functional ware, made using the potters’ wheel and porcelain-type clay. The glazes are all commercial, fired in an electric kiln, in an oxidizing atmosphere, to cones 5 and 6. I have about 90 glazes…and that’s because I’m always testing new color combinations…seeking to find that next great “planned accident”.
Most of my experience has been with reduction fired glazes, in a wood or gas kiln. So, in my mind, I am always comparing the final glaze results – hoping to narrow the chasm between oxidation and reduction colors. I am limited to commercial glazes due to the size of my 150 square foot studio, where I have no room for storage of large bags of chemicals. So it’s always a challenge when opening the kiln, to find out if my pots look like Halloween or Christmas!
Robbie was born in Kansas, and lived in many states, before moving to Arizona in 1994 with her husband Gary. She was a student at both Stephens College in MO and Rhode Island School of Design. Following that she invested 30 years in the printing trade. She presently lives in Mesa, AZ where she has her studio, Bridge of Hope Pottery. Her work has been seen in several publications as well as exhibitions and juried shows over the past years.
Robbie’s studio work consists of thrown and hand-built functional porcelaneous forms fired to mid-range temperatures. With an interest in classical Asian forms, her pieces emphasize depth in surface decoration through the application of multiple layers of glaze. These pieces are meant to enrich the lives of the viewer as they use and interact with them.

My work in this exhibit features both natural and human built places with special qualities that make them appealing and different from other places. This includes past and present geology, climate and micro-climate, diverse plants, quality of light that varies with season, time of day and weather. A painting may even capture, through one’s memory, how a place sounds and feels. These and other qualities combine to make a place (and a landscape) exciting and universally appealing. The natural beauty and variety within this region are astounding and an endless well-spring of inspiration for my work. I am a firm believer that the purpose of art is to connect people. It is a conversation between the artist and viewer and often between viewers. When I paint, I seek to capture those things that make a place special to me and to others. Through my work I hope to spark an emotional response, a reaction, a shared (or contrasting) belief in the viewer, and/or amongst viewers, and in that way connect people.
Robert is an Arizona based artist splitting his time between a main studio in the Sunnyslope neighborhood of Phoenix and a second art workspace in Christopher Creek, in Gila County east of Payson. Robert has lived in Arizona, and briefly in southern California, for more than 30 years, working as an urban design professional and graphic designer. Robert moved to Arizona from Colorado, where he first began making art, received formal and informal training and acquired his passion for the outdoors and reverence of the natural world. Using a variety of mediums and working in a style influenced by impressionism and abstract/realism, Robert’s work explores the notion of place, both natural and human built, and what qualities and characteristics (i.e. color, light, season/time, space/form) contribute to making a place feel unique and special.

Much of my art relates to my perception of nature and social issues. Watercolor, fabric and thread are my paint. My realism portraits are driven by a need to know the intimate details of my subjects while my more abstract creations recognize that nature is playful.
Shelley Koss is a Phoenix award-winning fiber and watercolor artist. Shelley creates modern wall art quilts that can be traditionally bound or framed, as well as paints in watercolor.

My abstract paintings are a hybrid of landscapes, emotion, and the human figure. I create emotional atmospheric pieces that explore spaces, and our transition between them. I strive to represent the nostalgia of moments in time or transitions through time that are often dismissed but affect our daily well-being.
A third-generation Arizona native, I’ve lived in the Valley of the Sun most of my life cultivating organic, contemporary living spaces and commercial venues for over 20 years. In 2019, I returned to art. I graduated ASU summa cum laude with a BFA in 2022, and am currently a member of the Five15Arts@Chartreuse artist collective. My art, although abstract, is centered on humanity and all the “marks” that go with it.
