Gratitude Tree with Tess Mosko Scherer

In this reflective and uplifting workshop, participants will create an abstract watercolor tree that grows from their own words of gratitude and personal strengths. Beginning with the roots, students are invited to weave in foundational core-belief words—such as love, family, honor, or any grounding values that feel meaningful to them.

From there, the tree grows upward as participants paint the trunk, branches, and leaves, adding words of gratitude throughout the composition. The process encourages quiet reflection, intention, and a sense of inner steadiness while offering plenty of room for personal interpretation and creativity.

The activity is fully choice-based: participants can include as many or as few words as they like, work abstractly or more representationally, and move at a pace that feels comfortable. The result is a deeply personal artwork that celebrates resilience, connection, and the small and large things that nourish us.
