Meet the Jurors….
Heidi Dauphin
Heidi Dauphin is a mixed media/ceramic artist, born in 1970 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned an MFA in 2001 and BFA in 1992 from the University of Michigan. Heidi’s career began as a high school art teacher in Michigan and followed by working as a gallerist in Massachusetts. Moving to Phoenix in 2004, Heidi focused on art making and has completed several large-scale Public Art Projects, including the Valley Metro Light Rail, City of Phoenix, and the City of Avondale. She is also the Exhibitions Manager at Shemer Art Center.
Between public art projects, Heidi concentrates on her studio practice. She is a collector of memories, objects, and places: all affecting her work. Throughout her career, she has completed three yearlong art projects (2000, 2010, 2020) that involved making art and collecting every day for a year. Heidi feels this ritual is essential to her art making process.
Meg Gizzi is a ceramicist and educator born and raised in Michigan. Meg received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Design with a concentration in ceramics from the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design. She then completed the Post-Baccalaureate Ceramics program at Michigan State University.
Teaching experiences include: East Lansing Hannah Community Center., All Seasons Senior Living Facility, Yourist Studio Gallery, and a lecturer teaching Introduction to Ceramics at Eastern Michigan University and Beginning and Advanced Ceramics at the University of Michigan Residential College.
In addition to her career as an educator, Meg is a working artist, striving to produce ceramic objects with meaning and purpose. Her work has been featured in shows at the University of Michigan Stamps Gallery, Residential College Gallery, and Stamps Senior Show, the national juried show untitled 2.0 at the Athens Arts Gallery in Athens, Indiana, and the 100th Annual All-Media Exhibition at the Ann Arbor Art Center. Her first solo show, Ways of Being, at BARICKUDA GALLERY at trustArt Studios in Ann Arbor, MI.
Currently a MFA candidate at Arizona State University
