Rosalie Trulli Vaccaro is a contemporary artist with a classical painting background. Born in New Rochelle, NY, she started drawing and painting at a very young age. Her work was the favorite of many teachers, which led to a scholarship at the famed Art Students’ League in Manhattan. After a short time, she concentrated on marriage and family, then went back to college to get her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. Working in the graphic industry, Rosalie, became an illustrator for newspapers and magazine. The pull of her art encouraged her to start a freelance graphic business so she could attend a two year program at Paier College of Art, specializing in portraits, and figurative painting.

Rosalie has studied with many internationally known artists over the pass years, such as Daniel Green, Rose Frantzen and David Jon Kassen. She also studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy.

Vaccaro’s work has been in several exhibits and juried shows in New York, Connecticut, Florida and Arizona. She has won many ribbons and awards.
Her work is in many private collections.
Her talent has been spotlight in many magazine and newspaper articles. She has also been teaching classes at museums and helping Veterans learn to paint and draw.
Rosalie’s love of oil painting shows in her work, which is representational paintings, of men, women, and children in their environments. Alone or in groups, these subjects excite her to the many possibilities of color, texture and touch of the oil painting medium.

Summertime heat brings many outbursts, both natural and caused by human’s disrespect for the natural world. While up in northern Arizona, recently, there was a rash of crashes on the highways, people losing their life, many car fires that started several forest fires and roads were closed! People are the main cause of these fires that cost not just money, it can cost wildlife their home and even their life. My “Poisoned” series represents the continued allowance of toxins in our environment to the detriment of wildlife. Soon wildlife’s safe haven will be furthered polluted with the opening up of our public lands for oil, gas and mineral extraction. This series is dedicated to the birds who have died due to man’s disregard to the natural world. With the continued denial of climate change we are witnessing stronger storms that make landfall and much more damage to the communities and wildlife that inhabit the affected lands.

I selected these three paintings because they are my latest works. The focus for the Glowing Blossom and Brilliant Idea was to emphasize the glow and brilliance from the stunning to the ordinary. The idea behind the cool waters in the Blue Wash was to focus on the cool in the presence of heat in the desert. I added texture and palette knife for drama.

As children, our job is to play. Through play, we discover the world around us by engaging in multisensory experiences. On our path to adulthood, we tend to become submerged in the day-to-day demands of work and relationships and often lose sight of the joy of discovery. “I was smitten by the magic of photography the first time I set foot in the dark room.” Sometimes I take pleasure in capturing the moment for its form or color. Other times, I try to expand the boundaries of reality. In recent years, I have stepped out from behind the lens to create mixed media pieces from my photographs. Returning to the multisensory experiences of youth, discovering a new technique with each piece ….. What joy!

Ira DellaMonica was born and raised in Southern California, graduated from Sonoma State University with an art degree and received a graphic arts certificate from UCLA. Her deep connection with animals stemmed from childhood pets and 25 years of competitive horseback riding and training. They are a repetitive theme in her work.
DellaMonica moved to Mesa, Arizona in 2017 to pursue an occupational therapy master’s degree. Through a series of life altering events during Covid 2020 rekindled a spiritually with painting, nature and the animals around her.

These paintings arise from a world under pressure—where fire, instinct, and emotion collide. The heat is both environmental and internal, touching on survival, connection, and resilience. Wild creatures and scorched landscapes echo the urgency of our times. Color burns with purpose—crimson, electric, raw. In the midst of chaos, tenderness and defiance flicker through. Each piece holds a pulse, a warning, a whisper: the heat is on, and something sacred still fights to endure.

The interplay of light and shadow seen in this sunrise is a highlight of this painting. I also worked with value and color temperature to simulate the sun’s effect on both the sky and the terrain to create the realism I wanted in the artwork.

My work reflects my life; most of my art is based on reference photos taken by myself wherever I may be. Many of my paintings are from hiking trips to Colorado, California, Peru. and Prescott, where I have a vacation home. Flowers are a recurring theme in my work in both watercolor and acrylic, painting them has taught me so much about depth and edges and it has been great practice for painting portraits and the landscape. I change my working method and medium to suit the subject matter; my painting journey began with watercolor and I still work in this medium, as I enjoy the interaction of pigment and water. I create collages with acrylic gel plate monoprints, I love the vibrancy of the colors and patterns I can obtain this way. I also paint directly with acrylic.

Melanie Harman is an Arizona-based artist who works in varied watermedia including watercolor, acrylic and collage. Harman began her art journey in 2005 as a mid-life beginner and has since progressed up to winning the M. Graham Award at Northwest Watercolor Society’s 83rd International Open Exhibition. She is a member of Arizona Artists Guild (Exhibitions Director), Arizona Watercolor Association (Gold signature member), and Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona.
