AAA Announces
Featured Artist for Spring Show
The Arizona
Art Alliance is proud to announce that the featured artist for the
Alliance’s Spring Art Exhibit and Sale will be Debra Jones of
Scottsdale. Ms. Jones’ work includes oils, watercolors and pastels, and
she has also recently developed a line of jewelry. Her subjects range
from portraits of people to all kinds of animals. One of Jones’
specialties is animal portraiture. Her participation with the Arizona
Artists Guild’s ZooPaint event at the Phoenix Zoo resulted in several
portraits of the resident animals. She is also the official painter of
the French Brittany Gun Dog Club of America.
Jones is a
member of the Mesa Art League, the Scottsdale Art League, and the
Arizona Artists Guild. A resident of Scottsdale, her artwork can
currently be seen at the AAA Window Art Show in the Town and Country
Shopping Center and at the Vision Gallery in Chandler. Her work has
most recently been shown in the “Faces of the Fallen” exhibit in
Arlington Cemetery, the National Watercolor Society’s Touring Exhibition
of 2004, the Pastel Society of America Show in 2001 and national shows
in St. Louis, MO, Mobile, AL, in Englewood, CO, and in Seattle WA.
Jones’ artistic awards include First Place in Watercolor at the 2006
Arizona State Fair, Artist of the Year in 2005 and 2006 for Mesa Art
League, Artist of the Year for Scottsdale Art League in 2003, and honors
from the Scottsdale Artists’ School’s Best and Brightest shows and at
other league events throughout the Valley.
“I paint
anything with eyeballs,” explained Jones. “I find things that look back
at me always keep my creativity flowing.” One of her specialties is
doing pastels on suede board. The technique makes the most of the crisp
lines and rich colors of fur, which is especially effective for animal
portraits.
The AAA
Spring will be held at the Town & Country Shopping Center at 2103 E.
Camelback (corner of 20th Street and Camelback) in Phoenix,
April 18-20, 2008, in the northwest portion of the shopping center.
Visitors may enter the Shopping Center from either 20th
Street or Camelback, and signs will direct them to the show. This show
is free to the public and parking is ample and free. Ms. Jones will
have a large body of work on exhibit at the AAA show and will be present
throughout most of the show to discuss and demonstrate her work.
The Exhibit
and Sale will open to the public at 10:00 AM on Friday April 18, 2008
and will run through 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Daily times are
Friday: 10-9, Saturday 10-9 and Sunday 10-6. There will be a
Meet-the-Artist reception on Saturday, April 19, from 7:00 to 9:00
PM.
The Arizona
Art Alliance invites the public to attend the Spring show and to meet
Debra Jones. Her work, as well as over a thousand works by the other
100+ participating artists will enrich the life of all visitors.
